Peace Makers International is a non-profit 501c3 organization that has been serving the Detroit area of over 15 years. Steve Upshur better known in the community as, “Pastor Steve” is the founder and leader of the organization. His organization is comprised of 4 facilities, in which three of the buildings stand in an area all but forgotten about in one of the roughest area’s on the eastside of Detroit Michigan. Remains of the Detroit 1960s’ riots stand to this day in this part of Detroit Michigan.

In the center of much poverty stands the outreach ministry where Pastor Steve provides a unique and effective forum of Christian theology to the homeless, drug addicts, and handicap. He offers inspiring sermons on the wisdom of God and the faith the Bible teaches in turning your life around. He allows those who were once lonely and confused to take the microphone and provide their testimonies. Not only does he provide a place where people can get spiritual and physiological help but he provides tangible things that are needed for every day life. Such as food, bus passes, clothing and other items.

A few blocks from his ministry he has a building called the “Jesus House” for homeless men. Also less then a mile away he provides shelter for battered and homeless women named the, “Mercy House”. You need not ask how effective his services are to the community because many of the former, alcoholics, drug addicts, paraplegics, help run each facility. He has proved a family atmosphere and a purpose for living for many people who have no one. About a four hour drive is a drug rehabilitation center that has helped many of our nation’s inner city and suburban troubled youth become free of Heroin addictions and other drugs.

Benevolence TV Involvement

During the first annual Banquet Dinner and silent action Benevolence TV was there as supporters. Benevolence TV has provided funding to the Peace Makers International. Benevolence is currently preparing grants to be written in an effort to help because the organization has great financial needs.

God Bless you Pastor Steve and thank you Benevelent TV,

As a member of Christ Community Church, I am thankful that God has made a way for me to be a willing servant on the C3 Missions team during the 2008 and 2009 missions. I was witness to the movement of the Holy Spirit upon the Chene Street Community. The anointing upon each individual that is touched by Pastor Steve’s ministry reaches into the deepest corners of my heart.
I pray for blessings to overflow upon the lowliest of God’s children that restoration begin to shine through in Jesus’ name. Amen

Peacemakers, you guys and gals deserve this… I have driven by the Church on Chene and see what you all do on a daily basis, just wanted to leave a comment and show support for your ministry. Detroit NEEDS people like you who care.
